Expansion valve

A basic refrigeration cycle consists of four major elements: a compressor, a condenser, a metering device and an evaporator. As a refrigerant passes through a circuit containing these four elements, air conditioning occurs. How does an expansion valve work? What is the function of an expansion valve?

What are the symptoms of a bad expansion valve? The adjusted tension of this spring is the determining factor in the opening and closing of the expansion valve.

This allows the refrigerant to cool before entering the evaporator. It also meters the amount of refrigerant transferred to the evaporator to avoid freezing. On some vehicles, these tasks are handled by the orifice tube instead of an expansion valve.

Get the job done with the right part, at the right price. AC system performing worse than usual and blowing warm air. Frost on AC evaporator or coming from the vents. AC compressor constantly running.

Electronic expansion valves are an evolution on the thermal expansion valve.

They are much more sophisticated and allow the refrigeration system to operate much more accurately and efficiently. The main function is to remove pressure from the liquid refrigerant in the system. This allows for expansion , and then converts the refrigerant from liquid to vapor inside the evaporator. And also controlling the refrigerant flow, called metering. Inside of the valve is a moveable rod that moves up and down.

It’s also known as meter devices. The expansion device is the fourth major component in air conditioner units. Air conditioner expansion valve is the divided point between the low side and the high side of the air conditioner units.

Another dividing point is air conditioner compressors. The valves control the injection of liquid refrigerant into evaporators and protect the compressor motor against liquid refrigerant. The thermostatic expansion valve allows you to keep a constant superheat (or refrigerant level) at varying load situations in the refrigeration system to save energy. The most common form of these valves is a thermal expansion valve (TMV), which is used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The two main types of air conditioner expansion valves are thermostatic expansion valves and capillary tubes.

You’ll usually see electronic expansion valve s listed with the acronym of either EEV or EXV. Refrigeration expansion valve s control the amount of refrigerant lowering into the unit’s evaporator, which means they essentially control the temperature of the equipment. In addition, the valve controls the refrigerant flow, called metering. Expansion Valves Automatic Exp.
