Types of bearing pdf

Bearings Built for Speed. The rolling elements distinguish the two basic bearing types – ball bearings and roller bearings. In a tapered roller bearing , the center lines do not converge at a common point.

The separator, which retains the balls or rollers, is also called the cage. Types of rolling bearings are given in Fig.

A STUDY OF BEARING AND ITS TYPES. Rolling bearings attempt to eliminate friction and sliding between surfaces in a junction by introducing interfaces such as balls or rollers which rotate or roll in as opposed to sliding. Examples of this type of bearings are axial ball and roller bearings. Different types of bearings for bridges include: Sliding bearings.

Rocker and pin bearings.

There are many types of bearings, each used for different purposes. These include ball bearings , roller bearings , ball thrust bearings , roller thrust bearings and tapered roller thrust bearings. For this reason all dimension tables are organized according to standard bore diameters.

Ball bearings , as shown below, are probably the most common type of bearing. There is a wide range of standardized bearing types and dimensions: the right one for a particular application can usually be found in these tables. TYPICAL INDUSTRIES AND APPLICATIONS ue mken s ti type e housings for pulp and paper, power generation, mining, cement and aggregate industries. There are different types designated NU, NJ, NUP, N, NF for single-row bearings, and NNU, NN for double-row bearings depending on the design or absence of side ribs. The outer and inner rings of all types are separable.

A rocker bearing is a type of expansion bearing that comes in a great variety. It typically consists of a pin at the top that facilitates rotations, and a curved surface at the bottom that accommodates the translational movements. We will look into more detail on the lubrication aspects of the bearings in the forthcoming articles. Well we will now look into the classification of the bearings. Ball-thrust bearings are for pure thrust loading only.

Roller bearings are more satisfactory under shock or impact loading than ball bearings. At high speeds, a deep-groove or angular-contact ball bearing usually will be a better choice, even for pure thrust loads. A bearing is a machine element that constrains relative motion to only the desired motion, and reduces friction between moving parts.

LYC is capable of designing the types of radial bearing and thrust bearings according to properties and directions of their subjected loa the detail types are given in the following. Radial Needle Roller and Cage Assemblies Metric Nominal Dimensions Radial Needle Roller and Cage Assemblies Inch Nominal Dimensions. Code for the bearing bore The code for the bearing bore indicates the bearing’s bore size. This number is multi- plied by fi ve to give the bore size.

For large-diameter shafts, cylindrical, taper, spherical and toroidal roller bearings are available, as well as deep groove ball bear- ings(➔fig ). These bearings include ball bearings and roller bearings. Because of its structure, there is not a lot of contact with the balls on the inner and outer races. This series will cover all the kinds of bearings with their constructional, working and special aspects of each type of bearing.
