Baking cake in gas oven

When baking foods like cakes , quick breads, or trays of muffins, rotate them degrees midway through cooking. When baking with gas ovens , be sure to rotate your trays It’s much cheaper to focus on rotating your trays… Unless you cook with a convection oven , there’s a good chance you’re going to struggle with hot spots in your gas oven. Rotation helps keep your food evenly baked.


If you’re baking a quick brea a cake, or muffins, a degree rotation. Furthermore, baking plates are always a better idea if you can choose between baking plates and grids. If oil or other liquids will drop to the bottom of your gas oven , it’s always a dirty mess.

The temperature in the back of your oven is most of the time a bit higher than in the front of it. How to Bake in Gas Ovens Step 1. Chef Leslie Bilderback reply’s, In my opinion, convection ovens are only useful if the fan can be disabled. It seems to make things cook faster on the outside and remain undone on the inside. The outside got tough and brown and the inside was all doughy. This is with a cake. Now that you know where the heat lives in the oven, start by baking pizza in a hot hot oven on the bottom rack and once it’s cooked through, move it to the top rack to brown the cheese (maybe even kick in the broiler if you’re feelin’ it!).


A good rule of thumb is to set the oven to about 25°F below the recommended temperature of your recipe. Always rotate your trays. A pizza stone helps provide even cooking.
